Hands up if you have an occasional stab of envy when a friend or colleague shares something about their life? Yeah, me too.

Sometimes when we experience envy, it could be a really good signal to us of something that we really care about or something we might want to prioritize in our life.

But then again…

It could be a momentary flash and not a solid enough reason for change. For example, when I hear someone tell me that when they get stressed, they end up losing weight because they can’t eat a single thing, I have a flash of envy. Why? Because when I get stressed, I eat chocolate pretty much Every. Single. Time. But I don’t interpret that flash of envy as a call for me to prioritize quitting chocolate.
