Your New Year’s Resolutions: Where Are They Now?

Your-New-Year's-Resolutions-Where-Are-They-Now-

Well, we are now at the end of January. Did you make New Year’s resolutions? Are you still on course? One of my biggest New Year’s goals was to do more schedule blocking. I have loved being an entrepreneur because of the flexibility it afforded me to schedule appointments whenever I needed to, volunteer at my kids’ school, workout, etc. The problem is that the work still needs to get done and I would often find myself facing a mountain of things in the evening that I had thought I would have gotten done earlier. Never a good feeling!

So this January I have been blocking off work hours from 9:30-3:30pm and pledging to myself to only schedule work-related things during this time. These hours are still not 100% “personal-stuff” free but it has helped me be a lot more mindful before saying yes to coffee dates/lunch dates/another volunteer commitment. Although I still feel in trial mode, I’ve noticed I have more energy for my work during the day and I am reading more and enjoying my evenings a lot more as well.

The photo I chose here is from a vision board workshop I led. If you’ve never created a visual collage of your goals and dreams before, it’s a great way to tap into the energy of the New Year without setting over-ambitious goals that set you up for failure. (i.e., if your New Year’s Resolutions have hit the dust already – try this!)

In last week’s blog post I tackle another way of looking at scheduling up your day and how you might ideally feel during your day. I hope it offered you some insights.
